A breakup, a car accident, a kind gesture—Partial Truths explores the consequences of meeting the perfect person at the worst possible time…

Camila and Ben—both in graduate school—meet in a UCLA Spanish class and become fast friends. He is enamored by her bohemian upbringing in a Mexican-Persian family, and she is charmed by his integrity and thoughtfulness. As both begin to feel the pull of romance, Camila learns of Ben’s secret. Choices are made and lines are crossed, changing the trajectory of their lives until their paths cross again ten years later, and they must come to terms with the truth of what happened.

Partial Truths is a love story for all those who’ve ever wondered: What if I had chosen another path? What if I hadn’t let them go?

Praise for PARTIAL TRUTHS

  • "A truly beautiful love story ... so well written that I could “see and feel” the two cultures that are Camila."

    –Jenny Jaque

  • “The writing here is evocative, utilizing short sentences full of emotional intensity that fill even the smallest and most innocent of moments with sexual tension…”

    –Indie Reader

  • "An absolute page turner! The perfect display of magnetism and tension within a forbidden love."

    –Eline Wilson

  • "Partial Truths brings you right in and grips your heart the entire way. You never really leave the characters- only keep thinking about the past and future of each. They feel like friends you want to call and check in with… it’s rare a book has that power. I was left with only wanting more."

    –Johanna Dubyak

  • "Set against the vibrant backdrop of Los Angeles, this modern love story offers everything: a strong, career-driven heroine, electrifying chemistry, and twists you won’t see coming. The main characters have a real, steamy attraction —the kind that’s messy, thrilling, and impossible to resist. Once you start you won’t want to stop so get ready to set your time aside for this one. "

–Beth Hamilton - author of The Ultimate Stress-Relief Plan for Women

  • "The characters are well-drawn, and the supporting cast (especially Camila’s loving Mexican mother, Iranian paternal grandmother, and gay best friend Tyler) are charming and likable.”

    –Indie Reader

  • "Camila herself is delightful in her independence, fierce determination, and sensuality…”

Listen to the soundtrack of Camila and Ben’s love story

While the world was still in COVID shutdown in 2021, I would come home to a quiet house and for reasons that are still unclear to me I started thinking of my 20s and the choices we allowed ourselves to make when trying to figure out who we were. In those times the world was very black and white because I hadn’t experienced enough of life to appreciate the grey. I’ve talked to enough women to know I’m not alone. For some reason (maybe it is the hormonal rollercoaster we call perimenopause), when women finally find a moment to breath in our 40’s we sometimes begin to wonder what happened over the past 20 years.

Who were we all those years ago?

What other paths could we have taken?

And where would they have led us?

It’s then I had the idea to write a story that would be just for me. It is a story about choices and the different paths life can take. This turned into a story for me and my closest friends, and now, with 73000 words, 150+ submissions, and over 50 rejections later, I decided to self-publish so it can be a story for anyone and everyone. Why? Because I know this love story will resonate with more than just my circle of friends. Because we were all someone else before we became mothers, wives, partners, colleagues, and bosses.

That person still exists somewhere, and she doesn’t want to be forgotten.
